We are in a tropical climate. Winter is a dry season, but summer is hot and humid. Many birds and plants need the warm, wet weather to survive.
Many plants grow here that can’t be found in Massachusetts. We are climbing out of our canoe on the bank of an estuary. The trees that are growing on the shore are mangrove trees. Mangroves are important for baby fish and birds. The baby fish can hide in the mangrove roots. Birds can find a safe place in the roots.
