Last week we had son #1, Tim, and Lynne to dinner for corned beef, one of his favorites. Lynne politely tasted the dinner, and then nuked her own which she wisely brought along. Next year I’ll have a back up!
Son #2, Dan, is headed down from Manchester, and cb and c two weeks in a row is a bit much, so I dug out a recipe from a friend. This beef stew uses typical ingredients with the addition of Guinness and …..mystery ingredient…. PRUNES!! The stew was delicious when we tasted it at Jean’s, and I hope mine turns out as well. Oh yes! Today is also Dan’s birthday. That’s another story! Happy Birthday, Dan.
I’ve also made a few adjustments to the bread recipe. For the last batch I substituted buttermilk for the sour milk, brown sugar for the refined, and traded out 1 cup of whole wheat flour. This batch was my favorite!
May the road rise to meet you;
may the wind be at your back.
May the sun shine upon your face,
and the rains fall soft upon your fields.
